Why Boiler Servicing Is So Important

We can’t stress enough how important regular boiler servicing and maintenance really is. We attend repairs that could have been avoided through yearly servicing all too often. Annual boiler servicing doesn’t just lessen your chances of experiencing boiler damage, it also ensures that your boiler is running efficiently, keeps your running costs low and most importantly, guarantees that your boiler is safe to use in your home.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A BOILER SERVICE?

It is important to keep in mind that a boiler service aims to confirm that your boiler is performing as well as it should, is safe to use and is up to date on all regulations. If there is a fault found, you will be able to book in a separate boiler repair service as soon as possible or, if the boiler is under warranty, our engineers can advise a manufacturer’s call out.

During your boiler service, our experienced Gas Safe engineers will:

  • Check that your boiler is operating correctly, that the gas pressure is correct and that you are happy with its current performance.
  • Check the overall condition of the boiler, looking for any signs of corrosion or leaking.
  • Check that the ventilation requirements are up to standard.
  • Clean where necessary, such as the heating system filter, and check that the boiler flue is clear and safe.
  • Perform a Gas Tightness test to check that your property is Gas Safe.
  • Issue you with a Boiler Service Certificate.

Once you have received your certificate to state that your boiler is working correctly, is safe and is meeting current standards and your own requirements, our office team will ensure your reminder is set for next year and will provide you with advice on our boiler service plans.

If any problems are detected, we can work with you to book in a boiler repair or call out the manufacturer. Whatever happens, we’ll ensure your boiler is up and running to standards as soon as possible.

HOW LONG DOES A BOILER SERVICE TAKE?

Boiler servicing is a complex process that should be completed thoroughly with due care and attention – our heating engineers however, are experienced and efficient and can complete boiler services in 45 minutes to 1 hour.

How often should a boiler be serviced?

We get asked this question a lot, and we always give an honest answer to our customers. Annual boiler servicing should, in most cases, be more than sufficient if you want to keep your boiler performing at its best and keep the usage of it safe for you and your family.

Our boiler service plans do include a pay monthly option which allows for your boiler service to be paid in smaller, more manageable instalments. It also provides extra checks on your heating system above what we would do on a standard boiler service.

If you notice any issues with your boiler before or after your service, please let us know and our team can advise you on the best remedy that’s available for you.

When is the best time to book a Boiler Service?

You need to have your boiler serviced every year, on or around the anniversary of its installation. However, it is best to try and have it carried out before winter due to the extra pressure it will be under during this time.

It also makes sense to book a service during the spring to autumn months because of the extra workload for heating engineers during the Winter. They will unfortunately have to prioritise boiler breakdowns and replacements at this time, so scheduling your work during the summer is much easier.

Why should you get your boiler serviced?

A lot of people struggle to understand why boiler servicing is important and see it as an unnecessary, additional cost. We’re here to help people see how important boiler servicing really is and how it often helps people save a lot of money.

Keep your warranty valid

A lot of boiler manufacturers require you to have your boiler serviced annually in order to keep your warranty with them valid. If you cannot provide documentation to prove that you have had your boiler serviced annually, most boiler brands are within their rights to void your warranty and refuse to pay out for any repairs should you need one.

Our small, monthly payment plan allows you peace of mind knowing that your boiler service is planned in and that you can maintain a secure warranty with your boiler manufacturer. Some home insurance policies also insist that you have your boiler serviced annually, so have a read of the small print.

Maintain boiler efficiency

Having our expert engineers inspect your boiler on an annual basis ensures that your boiler is working efficiently and fulfilling requirements. Regular maintenance and cleaning allows you to utilise the full benefits of your heating system and keeps costs down.

Reduce your heating costs

If your boiler has a clogged filter, blocked flue or even a minor leak, it’ll have to work 10 times harder just to perform at a minimal level. When your boiler has to use more energy, your heating bills will naturally increase.

Having our heating engineers inspect and clean your boiler annually allows the boiler to run at its optimum level with no additional effort, therefore keeping costs down and performance high.

Not only this, but if our engineers suspect a potential issue, you can have this repaired before it becomes a major problem. The cost of repairing a small leak, for example, is far less than forking out for a full boiler repair, burst pipe replacement and the replacement of water damaged flooring and goods!

Ensure complete boiler safety

The number one priority for all households with a boiler is ensuring that they are safe. Our boiler services check every element of your boiler and heating system to be certain that it is safe to use.

It is never worth the risk of allowing an unsafe boiler in your home, so speak to our team today to find out which service package would suit you best.

What happens if a boiler is not serviced?

You are not legally under an obligation to have your boiler serviced annually. You may however, lose any guarantee you have with your boiler manufacturer and your warranty will be void. You may run the risk of using an unsafe boiler, as boilers sometimes present no obvious signs of damage, leakage or blockage. You also increase your chances of having a boiler breakdown.

Servicing ensures that a boiler is cleaned, is safe and if there are signs of any parts deteriorating, these can be highlighted before a breakdown happens. Allowing our boiler engineers to thoroughly inspect your boiler yearly can prevent larger, potentially dangerous issues from happening over the course of the year, costing you far more than the service itself and putting your home and its residents at risk.
