If any of the plumbing in your house is broken, you’re likely to be without water, have a leak (often a wet patch on a ceiling) or burst pipe or even an overflowing or non-flushing toilet, it’s usually considered as an emergency.
If you are unable to cook, clean or sanitise or if you can’t stop a leak, you should call our emergency plumbers for specialist help.
Plumbing emergencies can include:
- Non-flushing, leaking or overflowing toilets
- Burst or leaky pipes, you may see a patch on your ceiling below your bath or shower
- Sump pump failure
- Broken shower
- Leaking or broken taps
- Leak under a sink or from a toilet
- Loss of water pressure
Sometimes a leak can be less of an emergency but, because your house is on a water metre, the cost of a constant small drip can soon add up to a large bill from United Utilities. They will usually write to you to advise you that you have been using a higher than normal amount of water. As Lacey Plumbing & Heating are WIAPS approved plumbers, you will often be referred to us by United Utilities if you call them.

FAQs about Emergency Plumbers
We will aim to get an emergency plumber to you on the same day.
Our team will check the locality of our engineers and move jobs that are booked in our diary to get an emergency plumber to you as quickly as possible. It will be on the same day as your call and we will divert engineers from other non-emergency jobs to get to priority customers.
Typically, you will pay our one-off aim to fix charge for an emergency call out. This is our standard one hour charge of £96.00 including VAT. If you require parts for the repair, this will be an additional charge.
Our engineers are trained to assess a job within the first 10 minutes of being on site and advise at this point on whether the repair will take longer than an hour and is therefore likely to cost you more than the standard charge. Our team of office managers will also be on hand to advise and assist you with this type of emergency.
90% of emergency jobs are fixed within the one hour standard charge.
If you have home insurance, we can advise you on whether this will cover our time to trace and access the repair and then fix it. Sometimes your cover will only allow for the plumber to trace the issue and access it; it then doesn’t cover the repair.
We can, however, advise you on the best course of action for the repair and also to recover your losses for any damage caused by your plumbing emergency. Just call our office team or send an email and we’ll discuss and advise you on this.
