What classes as a commercial boiler?

A boiler becomes ‘commercial’ depending on its size and where it is installed. They often have a higher output, so will differ from a residential boiler installation. Boilers usually classed as commercial are:

  • Rated above 70kw;
  • Fitted with gas pipework with a diameter of 35mm or above;
  • Installed in commercial or non-domestic buildings such as shops, offices and schools.

It is also possible to install a domestic sized boiler in a building that we’d class as commercial, such as an office or accommodation above a public house or restaurant.

Why should I have a new commercial boiler installed?

If you don’t already have a commercial boiler installed in your workplace, business premises or non-domestic building and you are considering having one installed then, the chances are, you need one.

There are a lot of legal requirements in relation to having a boiler installed in a commercial premises. This depends on differing factors, such as whether the building is owned or rented, private or council and what the necessity for having a boiler is. Either way, if you need a new boiler installed in your commercial property, Lacey Plumbing & Heating can help.

If you are replacing an old boiler, you will be benefiting from:

  • A more reliable and modern product that can be well maintained years after its installation.

  • Increased cost-effectiveness through installing a more energy efficient boiler with new ways of monitoring consumption.

  • Improved conditions for building occupants, such as staff and visitors, through better heat distribution and more reliable hot water usage.

What type of commercial boiler do I need?

Commercial boilers are available from most of the major boiler brands, such as Worcester Bosch and Vaillant. Ideal Boilers also have a commercial section to their brand which are called Keston Boilers.

We can install all the same types of boilers that are available for residential properties such as combination, heat only and regular boilers. It depends on the type of property and requirements which we can advise on during a survey.
