From Empty Warehouse to Staff Welfare Facility

One of our clients was in need of converting a large empty warehouse into an employee welfare facility, consisting of new toilets, new disabled toilets, urinals, a kitchen area and a shower area. 

Like always, this project started with a set of drawings and specifications that we reviewed. We then conducted an initial site visit with the client to discuss the practicality of the design. Following this, we discussed our quotation process and moved onto our health and safety risk assessment and method statement.

Customer Toilets at Inflatanation Manchester

Our client, Inflatanation Manchester, asked us to provide them with a solution for how they could upgrade their current urinals to create cleaner and easier to use facilities. 

This project started with an initial visit to survey the current facilities and give our team the chance to provide advice on the best solutions for the upgrade. Once the quotation was agreed, we then prepared our health and safety risk assessment. 

We worked around the customers opening times, making it convenient for them with minimal disruption to their business. 

ur client hugely benefited from this project with new modern looking urinals pods fitted with minimal disruption and downtime. The new facilities are also much easier to use for their customers, easier to clean and maintain for staff and looks much more aesthetically pleasing for the public. 

Is there a legal requirement for toilets in a commercial space?

Yes, you are legally required to have toilets in a commercial space for both customers and staff members. 

The relevant legislation is set out in the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992. Regulation 20, Sanitary conveniences which states “suitable and sufficient sanitary conveniences shall be provided at readily accessible places”.
