Commercial Plumbing & Heating Installation for Cut & Craft Restaurant Refurbishment – Manchester City Centre
Luxury Restaurant Refurbishment in Manchester City Centre
When TBS Mechanical & Electrical Design & Build Ltd were instructed by the main fit-out contractor to deliver the mechanical services for the conversion of a historic bank building in Manchester city centre into a luxury restaurant for the Cut & Craft brand, they appointed Lacey Plumbing & Heating to carry out the commercial plumbing and heating installation.
Cut & Craft already operate successful restaurants in Leeds and York, and this project involved transforming a traditional banking hall into a high-end hospitality venue.
Working as part of the wider construction team, our engineers delivered the commercial plumbing infrastructure, plant room installation, heating distribution and washroom facilities required to support the full operation of the restaurant.

As Gas Safe registered and SafeContractor Accredited commercial plumbing and heating engineers, we ensured all our works were completed to the highest professional standards and aligned with the programme set by the fit-out contractor and project management team.
For our team, this was one of those projects you remember. The sheer size of the building, the technical complexity of routing services through a historic structure, and the challenge of coordinating multiple systems across every area of the site made it one of the most rewarding commercial projects we’ve delivered. Seeing it all come together from an empty shell to a fully operational restaurant with every system tested and working was a proud moment for the whole team.

Commercial Plumbing Scope for This Restaurant Refurbishment Project
This hospitality refurbishment required a full installation of plumbing, heating and gas infrastructure throughout the building. When we started this project it was a completely empty shell.
Our role as the commercial plumbers and heating engineers included:
From start to finish we supplied all labour, ensuring the plumbing and heating element of the refurbishment was completed to the required commercial standards and on time. TBS Mechanical knew they could trust our team to deliver on this project.

Who This Restaurant Refurbishment Project Was Delivered For
This commercial plumbing installation was completed for TBS Mechanical & Electrical Design & Build Ltd, the mechanical engineering contractor responsible for delivering the plumbing and heating package as part of the overall restaurant refurbishment.

Expert Advice on Plumbing & Heating Systems
We reviewed drawings and mechanical specifications to ensure the proposed plumbing and heating systems were practical for the layout of the building. We advised on materials required so they could order accurately.
Proactive Problem Solving on a Historic Building
Converting a historic bank building into a restaurant required adapting pipe routes and services to suit the existing structure while keeping the project on programme.
Seamless Coordination with Other Contractors
Our engineers worked alongside electricians, builders and equipment suppliers to ensure plumbing services were installed at the correct stage of the refurbishment.
Full System Testing and Commissioning
We completed gas pipework testing, heating system testing and TMV commissioning, ensuring all systems were fully operational prior to handover.
Working with Project Managers on Commercial Restaurant Refurbishments
Restaurant refurbishment projects often involve multiple contractors working simultaneously within a tight construction programme.
For this project we worked closely with the site management team and project managers, aligning our installation schedule with other trades including electrical contractors, construction teams and kitchen equipment installers.
Our engineers maintained clear communication with the project team throughout, ensuring the plumbing and heating was installed at the correct stages.
This collaborative approach ensured the commercial plumbing and heating installation supported the wider construction programme without delays.
Commercial Plant Room Installation & Mechanical Systems
A key element of the project involved the installation of plumbing and heating within the building’s plant room.
Our engineers completed the installation of pipework connecting to the gas-fired boilers and hot water cylinder, along with all associated distribution pipework.
The plant room installation also involved preparing systems for commissioning and ensuring they met safety and operational requirements.
This type of work demonstrates our experience delivering mechanical plumbing and heating installations within commercial buildings across Greater Manchester and the wider North West.
