What does our family-run plumbing business and Cambridge University have in common?

Well, the answer is a lot more than you’d think!

A few weeks ago Mike, Rebecca and the rest of our team spent the day filming for Barclays and their Thriving Local Economies Project. This followed us completing the Barclays Scale Up UK Programme which addresses the core challenges small businesses like us face in scaling, by providing a hands-on approach to help accelerate growth.

Last year we were lucky enough to be selected to participate in the programme, which was delivered by world-class coaches and industry practitioners. The 5 month programme was run in Cambridge, London and Leeds, and covered everything from Marketing to Workplace Culture.

During our time on the course, created in conjunction with Cambridge Judge Business School, we learned how to grow our business to the next level. We even got to attend a graduation ceremony at the esteemed University of Cambridge! Not too shabby for a business that started out as a man, his dog and a van…

In the six months since the course ended, we’ve ramped up our marketing – as so many of you have seen – we have also hired an apprentice engineer and now have a part-time administrator working for us at Most Wanted HQ.

If you’re a local Bury business looking to scale up, or know someone who wants to, then we definitely recommend applying. In the short clip above you can hear how the course has already enabled us to grow and create a plan for the future growth of Lacey Plumbing & Heating.

Thank you to Hanadi Jabado and the team at Cambridge Judge Business School for a fantastic course. And as always a big thank you to our fantastic team/wannabe movie stars…

That’s a wrap!
